77th DDAY – D-Day commemorations
June 3 to 8, 2021 at the Normandy Victory Museum
The 77th anniversary of D-Day was commemorated in a rather special atmosphere. With slightly fewer people in Normandy that year due to the pandemic, visitors were able to access less crowded sites than usual and enjoy closer contact with the various players involved in the event: local witnesses, historians, specialists and all the enthusiasts who work to pass on the memory. The current year’s program can be found in our agenda.
The program
- “Field Hospital” Temporary exhibition: a fully reconstructed field hospital operating theatre.
- Presentation of armored unit vehicles and equipment (2nd Armored division)
- Demonstration of the ENIGMA coding machine
Portraits of veterans – Inauguration of the temporary exhibition
In collaboration with Florent Plana, well known for his many interviews with veterans, we’re presenting photographs of veterans in the heart of the museum. They are positioned in the museum in a coherent way with respect to the battles in which they took part. Each portrait is accompanied by a textual presentation.> Watch the teaser
