Iconic tanks in operation
From June 6 to 9, for the 80th anniversary of the Normandy landings, we are hosting the Tank Museum of Saumur as well as two associations for exceptional demonstrations of historic tanks in operation. The centerpiece is the only working Tiger II in the world. (70 tons).
Guest tanks also make an appearance for occasional demonstrations, notably the Sherman Fury (Jeep Sud Est) and "Arcis sur Aube" (ADLP Automotive).

The Panzer B "Tiger II" - Saumur Tank Museum
An impressive heavy tank, remarkable for its size and power, designed to dominate the battlefield. Its mechanical complexity also makes it a demanding machine, both feared and difficult to maintain in real-world conditions.
Panzer II "Luchs" - Saumur Tank Museum
Lighter and faster, the Luchs is a reconnaissance tank designed for observation, rapid movement, and information transmission. A discreet but essential role in conducting operations.
Panzer IV - Saumur Tank Museum
The mainstay of the German army, the Panzer IV was present on all fronts. Versatile and constantly improved, it accompanied the evolution of the conflict from the beginning to the end of the war.
Sherman from the movie "Fury" - Jeep Southeast
An iconic tank of the Allied forces, the Sherman was distinguished by its mass production and reliability. It played a central role in the D-Day landings and the advance in Europe.
Sherman “Arcis-sur-Aube” – ADLP Automotive
This M4A2 tank, delivered to Casablanca in 1943, participated in the fighting of the 2nd Armored Division after its Normandy landings, until the liberation of Paris. Remaining intact after the war, it was subsequently abandoned before being restored by enthusiasts. Today, it comes to life again during demonstrations at the museum.
Stug III – Panzerfarm (Poland)
Designed as an assault gun, the StuG III is distinguished by its low profile and its effectiveness in the field. Used in direct support of infantry, it became one of the most produced armored vehicles by the German army.
